Whitney Wells-Corfield

Whitney Wells-Corfield

Whitney Wells-Corfield has been an educator for fifteen years. For five of those years she specialized in teaching only mathematics. As a former district mathematics coach, she and her team developed modules for teachers to help support their mathematics instruction. The creation of those modules inspired her idea to create something similar for students. She dreamed about the things she would do if she were still a classroom teacher. How awesome would it be to empower children to share their conversations about maths with other children, while going as deep as possible into their own curriculum? She decided to make it happen. Mrs. Wells-Corfield returned to the 5th grade classroom, teaching all subjects, in 2019. Her one-time dream of a maths podcast for kids by kids has turned into a reality. This is it!

Whitney is the podcast producer. This means she writes the scripts, records the kids, and handles audio production, which includes all editing. The music and effects? That’s her! A lot of behind the scenes research, scheduling of interviews, and conceptualization had to happen for this podcast to come to life. Creating and producing this podcast has been a wonderfully exciting new adventure for her and Mrs. Paulson. We at Mic Drop Maths hope you enjoy learning along with us as you listen to each episode!

Lindsey Paulson

Lindsey Paulson

Lindsey Paulson has been an educator for fifteen years. Ten of those years she was a classroom teacher in K, 1st, 3rd, and 5th (1st grade was her favorite!) Currently she supports classroom teachers in her role as an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT). She loves to encourage teachers to try new methods to provide their students with more voice and choice in their work. You can find her instructing teachers and students in K-5 on her favorite platforms: Seesaw, Google, and Schoology!

When Mrs. Wells-Corfield asked for help with a podcast, Mrs. Paulson jumped at the chance. You won’t hear her voice on the podcast, but trust that she listens to every second. She and Mrs. Wells-Corfield have learned the world of podcasting together. Mrs. Paulson provides additional support with recording, organizing, and creating images for the MDM website. She’s also the main brain behind the social media posts. Lindsey is proud to be the silent partner in Mic Drop Math’s mission to share kids’ maths voices with the world!
